I’m not sure how, but it honestly never crossed my mind that you could make cut-out cookies that weren’t just sugar cookies.
I’m not sure what planet I have been living no, but it’s new. I feel like the biggest dork on the planet. I have been baking my whole life. Have had entire weekends that revolve around making cookies and never once have I thought ‘cut-out chocolate chip’.
Well that’s what I found. This lovely recipe here: https://pin.it/K39Wg1u. It’s from Marian at Sweetopia. She has lots of different recipes and a bunch of different cut off flavors. I can’t be more excited!
I’ve had a desire for sometime to learn how to do some fancy cookie decorating. It was supposed to be my Spring adventure, but we had some life changing events happen in March. So, here we are – learning cookies for fall.
The recipe was super easy to follow. I am pretty impatient, so I did not enjoy the hour chill time. It was simple enough for the kiddos to help.

I did mine in little football shapes using a circle cookie cutter. We have our fantasy football draft tomorrow. Also, those won’t require a millions icing colors for our first decorating attempt.

The bake time says 8-12 minute, but my oven and I are old friends, so we started with 15.

It’s not the best angle, but they kept their shape so well. And, OMG, they are delicious. I never thought a cut-out cookie could taste so good. It’s wild.
I’m going to let these dudes cool overnight, threaten my kids lives if they touch them, and icing them tomorrow. Another something new so we’ll see how it goes. You should totally try these.
